The 10th International Short Film Festival presents a new exhibit A Particular Look created by the Consorcio Mineiro do Audiovisual
This new exhibit; A Particular Look, of the 10th International Short Film Festival will happen from July 25th to 31st at Palacio das Artes, presents three documentaries produced by the members of the Introduction to Cinematographic Realization Workshop which was made inside the Itinerant Short Film Program throught out the State of Minas Gerais. Mirai, Cataguases and Varginha were the cities given activities for capacitation and for the first time produced films about a relevant theme for the comunity, chosen by its own residents. A Particular look is the first project created by the Consorcio Mineiro do Audiovisual, formed by the Minas Gerais Moviemakers Association -Associacao Mineira de Cineastas (AMC), by the Centro de Estudos Cinematograficos (CEC), Humberto Mauro Institute and by the producer Cultural Contact.
The Consorcio Mineiro do Audiovisual was created two years ago to stimulate the development of cinematographic activity and related events in Minas Gerais. Each member of the Consorcio contributes for the execution of the projects within his/her limitations and functions.. The funds for the projects of the Consorcio are gathered from the Fundo para o Desenviolvimento do Audiovisual (FUNDAV) , created by AMC in partnership with Humberto Mauro Institute. "There is still a need to stimulate the movie production and to enable it to happen. The Consorcio contributes for its growth and through coorporative negociation makes it possible. These are joint efforts to establish such production in Minas Gerais", according to Geraldo Veloso, executive-director of Associacao Mineira de Cineastas (AMC).
Particular Look will be have nine more movies produced by the next Itinerant Project of the 10th International Short Film Festival to be made on the second semester of 2008. After the documentaries are finished a 12 episode TV series will be created with the material produced by the dwellers of the cities visited. We have been pondering the possibilitiy of going beyond Minas Gerais and work with the reality of the african communities. In 2007 a pilot-project was made in Cape Verde. Other foreign projects also have been analysed such as the invitation of the Consorcio to execute a brazilian festival in Lisbon, Portugal. Besides, three projects of films are under current analysis by the Consorcio Mineiro do Audiovisual.
