1st. International Short Film Festival of Belo Horizonte From 22 to 30 September, 1994.
It was organized by the Departamento de Cinema da Fundação Clóvis Salgado, and was created with the objective of exhibiting the best national and international short film production, thus establishing a stimulating space for discussion for the movies’ professionals. On this first edition 179 short films from 23 countries were exhibited, including 72 films from Brazil. The more prominent shows were: A Look over the World, with Brazilian and foreign short films; The British Council Selection, with the new British short films; and the Oberhausen Selection, with films from the short film festival of t he German city Oberhausen. Besides these, the public could see the MIS Selection (Museu da Imagem e do Som de São Paulo) and the Retrospect, on which were shown Brazilian films, realized between 1920 and 1984. Another attraction was the Cycle of Lectures about the Brazilian audiovisual production, to which attended important researchers and filmmakers, such as Júlio Bressane, Arthur Omar, Ivana Bentes and André Parente.
