4º Festival



4th. TIM International Short Film Festival of Belo Horizonte
From 04 to 16 June, 2002.

In its 4th. edition, the competitive exhibitions were split into National and International, which selected together about 120 films. It was distributed about R$50,000.00 in prizes to the participants. At the Competitive Brazilian Exhibition 50 short films from 12 Brazilian states were exhibited, and, at the International Competitive 60 short films from 19 countries were exhibited. In addition to these, other short films were invited by the Festival Trusteeship to participate of the thematic exhibitions and of the retrospects:

Brazil without Frontiers (Brasil sem Fronteiras), short films realized abroad; Clermont- Ferrand Short Film Festival, an especial selection of short films exhibited and awarded at the French festival; Fernando Sabino, a documentary film from the series “Films on Great Brazilian Writers”, realized by the author in the 70’s decade; François Ozon, short films from the young and controversial French filmmaker; “Futebol por Torero”, films selected specially by the writer and filmmaker to show soccer in the Brazilian short film cinema; Joaquim Pedro de Andrade Exhibition, five short films realized by this filmmaker; “Matinê Curta”, a special programming aimed at an audience of children and youths; Brazilian Retrospect, an assorted panel from the diversified production of Brazilian short films in the years 60, 70, 80 and 90; Singular, films that picture life of common characters who live aside from society; “Woman Makes Movies”, films from the American organization which aims at producing and divulging films made by and about women.

The workshops “Movie Photography”, Short Film Production – from the Project to the Exhibition, Preservation of Movies, Pos-production, and the discussions “Music for the Movies”, Woman and Family in the Movies, Debate Bola, Beyond the Appearances – Sexuality in the Movies of François Ozon, Film transfer into tape and tape into film, and Preservation of Movies, were also carried out.

Best Short Film (Associação Curta Minas) – “Palíndromo”, by Philipe Barcinski (SP/Brazil)

Best Brazilian Short Film Sound (Jury) – “Reminiscência”, by Eduardo Nunes (RJ/Brazil)
