May be eligible to apply short films which have been finalized both in 2011 or 2012, with up to 40 minutes in length, of all film genres, on the final format of 35 mm, 16 mm or a digital media.

The 14th Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival takes place between September 14 and 23, 2012, in two different venues of Palácio das Artes, Humberto Mauro Cinema and Juvenal Dias hall. The festival will award the best films according to the official jury and the audience's choice. FestCurtasBH aims to propagate short length film production, stimulate critical reflection upon the featured movies and motivate Brazilian and international film production exchange.

In 2011 the festival received 2.635 entries from Brazil and worldwide, with a total of 106 joining nations. From this total, 125 films from 55 different countries in International, Brazilian and Minas Gerais Competitive exhibits, as well as other six special exhibits. For ten days, around 4.000 people were present at 70 film sessions, debates with filmmakers, film courses and a workshop, all free of charge.

The festival also promotes a roaming film program, which last year screened part of its schedule in ten different cities of the state, with a total audience of 12 thousand viewers.
